Today on the Bite Tonight: Social Club @ Coach Insignia
After 5 Social Club hosts events that allow you to unwind after a long work day and enjoy a bite and a drink with friends and co-workers. It’s also great if you’re looking to network and meet new people.
Janet and I ventured to the top of the Ren Cen to Coach Insignia for Happy Hour from 5-7 pm. I will not rank this restaurant, because it was packed and mainly standing room. By the time we got there (about 35 minutes after the start of the event), we were welcomed with the picked through leftover appetizer bar which consisted of various fancy cheeses and sausages.
The cheeses were a mix of brie and what I call “colorful surprise” which were creamy and slightly aged. Wait! No crackers!? The sausages were mediocre and not too fancy. I was able to snag a shmear of a spicy mustard that was delicious! The restaurant did bring out a bowl full of strawberries and cantaloupe for all the late stragglers. All in all, I wasn’t too impressed with the appetizer bar and thought such an upscale establishment could’ve done better.
We didn’t get to try one of the unique drinks because the bar line was long and not moving which was disappointing.
The best part of the event was the view of the Detroit River from the towering 73rd floor where Coach Insignia was located. I did like all the natural light that poured through the windows.
I would like to give Coach Insignia another chance when they are not hosting a social club After 5 event. With that said, I hope to go back.
