Now before you judge a book by it’s cover, just know that I didn’t drink all these martinis alone. My good friend, Michelle and her sister, Nicole were in town, so Nastassia and I met them for a night of catching up.

DD Dirty Dog: Nastassia’s pick. Smirnoff Vodka, Olive juice, and olives. Salty, strong, and classic.

Banana Split: Nastassia’s 1st pick that she didn’t care for. Vodka, Tequila Rose , Creme De Banana, Creme De Cocoa. Nice flavor, but really sweet and heavy. Great for banana fans!

Bellitini: My pick. Vodka, Peach Liqueur, Champagne. Light, fruity with a hint of bubbly. Bellitini

Skittletini: Nicole’s pick. Vodka, Razzmatazz, Peach tree Liqueur, Triple Sec, Orange and Cranberry juice. Tasted just like a skittle and not booze. Fruity and sweet.

Mint Chocolate Chip: Michelle’s pick. Vanilla Vodka, Creme de Menthe, Irish Creme, Cream. Like a scoop of ice cream in a glass. Delicious, decadent, and rich.

What I liked about Gizzmos was that each martini was garnished beautifully. With a newly renovated interior, Gizzmos has live music and a great menu to suit any taste bud. The staff was friendly and it really seemed like our server wanted us to have a great experience, making conversation and offering her drink knowledge and recommendations. Even though I’ve lived Downriver all my life, this was my first visit to Gizzmos and it won’t be my last. No matter if you’re in the mood for a sophisticated cocktail or a beer and a small bite, stop in and check out Gizzmos.

Thanks for a wonderful evening, ladies! It was so great to see you guys.

Chesley's Bar

Tiffany and I decided to grab some local lunch for the snow day today. Chesley’s Bar is located on Fort St. & Kings Hwy in Lincoln Park, MI. We needed something to warm us up. Check out what was on the menu.

Pumpkin Vanilla Coffee: The bartender “whipped” this up using Pumpkin liqueur & Whipped Vanilla Vodka. It was pretty tasty and was the perfect thing on a snowy day.

Zucchini Fries: Some of the fries were soggy. The seeded middle of the zucchini was used which contained moisture and caused the zucchini to be mushy. The fries that had firm pieces of squash were good. The zucchini was fresh and paired well with the crispy batter. I am a huge fan of deep frying any vegetable.

Cajun Burger served with cajun seasoned fries: Topped with jalapeno’s and pepper jack cheese. Slightly spicy, with good heat. The Lousiana mayo was also a hit. The only thing we didn’t care for was that we ordered the burger “Medium Well” and it came out with a little more pink than we like. The fries were awesome and perfectly seasoned.

Chesley’s is a local favorite serving up more than just good conversation and drinks. They have a full menu consisting of bar foods, salads, soups, sandwiches. and daily specials. Check em out the next time you want a cold one and a burger.
